Classic

m- We have a feeling that the classic American look will be around pretty much indefinitely so we decided, why not showcase this look with a little twist of our own? And we did just that. Last weekend, when visiting my dad's side of the family for an early Christmas, I got together my cousins and took a quick trip to my grandparent's old house to grab some pictures. What I found out was Allen, Cooper, Chamberlain, Payton, and Rhiannon are all awesome models! This beautiful house was the home Boobah and Pop's during our parent's reign and, through all the history, it was a special place for all of us. Naturally, we grabbed some of Booba's accessories,
and snapped some pretty fun pictures down memory lane.
Such a strapping family. This color pallet, like most of our shoots, took a life of it's own as we were prepping for the shoot. Deep reds, navy, and dark mustard served as our color swatches for the day. Deep colors are a great way to brighted up the stark of wintertime while still keeping the winter feel.
A cool belt can do many things like add a splash of color and razzle dazzle but belting an outfit brings a whole new silhouette. When done right, belting an already great outfit can make it even better.

Shoes.
In lieu of classic American prep, Cooper and Allen had to bring Ralph Lauren in the mix. Ralph Lauren is never far away from American's closets.

Vintage 70's Glam

m- I had the most amazing opportunity to get a sneak peek at my grandmother's closet while I was in town for Christmas. My grandmother (Boobah for those keeping tabs at home), was, and still is, a fashion icon of her time. To our favor, she has archived many of her pieces from the past.
Naturally, we kept it in the family and Boobah graced my cousin and sister with some of these unique vintage pieces to re-live some of the best decades fashion has had to offer.
My Boobah was Glam.
The detail on this first dress of Boobah's is out of this world. This piece is 1970's vintage Oscar de la Renta. Gold and orange detail make this beautiful gown even more elegant. I love the 70's boho shape in the draping of the sleeves and waist.
Payton's fiery hair completes the look.
Boobah's powder room was the perfect place to shoot these two diva gowns.
Vintage earrings always seem to have a unique shape, different from earrings today. I love the square. And the glitzy gold. Always love the gold.
Boobah's Florence + the Machine dress. Completely obsessed with this. The detail.
The lace is so elegant and the little neck is EVERYTHING.
Again, the 70's draping and wide sleeves are giving me life.
I can't even...
Gold accessories can be draped, dipped, layered, and paired. I'm an advocate of covering yourself in gold. As long as the color of the gold all goes together...go for the gold. It's elegant and hip.
Accessory of the day: Gold Monocle
Thank you Boobah for beautiful clothes and beautiful genes. We'll take it!
We really couldn't pass up an old tub with legs...naturally, we jumped right in.
I want to go out in this gown...

It is really hard to capture all of the elements of this dress, especially the significant weight of the garment, but this shot showcases some of the absolutely phenomenal details of the beading.

This is truly an amazing gown.

A lady can't leave the house in the winter in  beautiful gown without a beautiful fur. Fur is everything. There is nothing like fur. I could go on and on about fur but for now, invest yourself in fur.
Mrs. Mary Rose did.

Had to.

Kim: Take Two: Free People and Feathers

Alright. Kim take two. Campbells take two. Free People take two.

m- One of my favorite places in Wilmington is Greenfield Lake. Reaching across hundreds of acres of fresh water, completely surrounded by massive trees covered in Spanish moss, this area is a goldmine for great backdrops. Locals know that this lake made it's debut in a scene in The Notebook (when hundreds of swans accompanied Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams before their epic "impromptu" rain kiss) but today we find the lake with a little less swan. Anyway, Kim and I were able to wrap up a fun day of shooting by the side of this glorious lake and I couldn't be happier.

More of Kim's rock&roll style is taste tested via this black fur headband...that we love.
This is one of my favorite accessories I've seen all season. Native American in nature, this combination of ROCKS and feathers and beads and wonder has really made this headpiece unique. Kim literally has rocks on her head and I couldn't be happier about it. Kim is definitely edgy enough for this great piece.
Why not add a little fur with those feathers? A fur scarf can be added to almost any outfit during the winter and this heavy scarf was a great compliment to Kim's Free People top.
These Campbells and this Free People top constantly makes unique silhouettes as the day continues.
These graphic leggings are so much fun and a great addition to this whimsical outfit. Kim found these guys at Edge of Urge
