Local Spotlight: The Wondershop's Wonders

I could gush. I could gush all day.
...about this shop of wonders.

m- The misses and I have been dealt a long distance relationship. We've been at it for eight months now, and it has done nothing for our obsessions with each other. I actually like the kid these days, interestingly enough! Anyway, our visits are sporadic but special and today was no exception. And, to no one's surprise, Courtney and I matched (unexpectedly) in leopard, denim and black.
This kid. Today we ventured to our favorite store in town...The Wondershop
Kelsey Gibbs is genius. As simple as that. I remember when
Kelsey first opened this shop while I was still at UNCW. I instantly fell in love.
There are so many wonderful talents that Kelsey executes effortlessly and it is always a treat to soak in the creative gifts she shares through her passion for fashion.

The Wondershop is precisely just that. A time capsule of past decade's bests.
Today I scored this floral tie (which would have fit perfectly in our Bada Bing Spring collection)
and this awesomely red, vintage cardigan.
I have a collection of these simple beauties from the past.
The prime time period for these particular cardigans allowed room for unique colors
that I cant get enough of.

Kelsey Gibbs is good. She knows what to do, when to do it, and who to surround herself with. The Wondershop is certainly lucky to have such a perfect team. Clearly, this lady above is no exception. Tasha and I have such a fun Wilmington fashion friendship. Everytime we see eachother we are always dressing up for something exciting. I am such an admirer of Tasha's style.
Appropriately quirky and fashion forward.
Really fantastic stuff.
Kelsey picked out THE perfect dress for Courtney when we last stopped by. It's phenom let me tell you. This 80's velvet dress could not be a better fit on the lady. The SLEEVES are so cool and the mesh detail on the chest is supa flattering. I cant wait to see Courtney style this one...
FOR HER BIRTHDAY TONIGHT.
And if The Wondershop team couldn't be more perfect...Jordan Brackett works here too. Can you say cherry on top? I am envious of Jordan's unique style. I feel like I sometimes get lost in how I want to portray myself in my dress but Jordan knows exactly what works for him. His fashion has evolved immensely over the past couple of years and I am such an admirer.
Come check out this store of wonders. I promise you wont be disappointed  There is so much talent bursting from the vintage seams of this time capsule. Did I mention that this wonder trio are AMAZING people as well as amazing fashionistas? It matters.
Come wonder. Each piece is unique....just like you.

Thank you Kelsey Gibbs for such a gift to Wilmington.

You've raised the bar and I cant wait to see what's next.

Now, time for a beer.

Because we're obsessed.

Wilmington's Best Boutiques: Edge of Urge- Street Crawlers.

c- Hood rats just hanging on the street.  Decked out in bada$$ outfits from Edge of Urge, Jess and I were ready to take on anything this day threw at us in our handmade junkies. I am wearing one of my favorite pairs of junkies, the split black and navy. Topped off with Vans leopard platform sneakers, a sheer blouse, leather jacket, and my favorite staple: red lips.  Jess is sporting junkies and the fabulous Enlisted Coat by Mink Pink
How hawt is this chick? She rocks the witch/IDGAF look better than most. Jess Young is typically the behind-the-scenes talented styler with the fun flare. This slightly sheer Southfork top by For Love and Lemons pairs flawlessly with high waisted EOU junkies and this killer hat.  Lets hope she stays in front of the camera for awhile because she is giving the people what they wanna see-- sultry realness.
Ombre, texture, patterns, and my favorite circular shades! The one and only Mink Pink Backstage Jacket made me want to be a groupie- in a fabulous kind of way. Michael Ussery and Jess Young are style sauvants. They have a keen eye for mixing patterns, colors, and textures in a put together way that is right up my alley. It's never too much if you know how to rock it!

Jessie Williams is at it again. This time, with over-the-knee high super soft socks. Perfect for fall and incredibly on trend, try pairing these with open toed heels! If you peek below you can also spot another Edge of Urge original, the Vegabond Scarf.  Fall colors and incredibly soft; this scarf can be worn in so tons of versatile ways. A scarf is the perfect piece to take any outfit to the next level, all while keeping you warmer.

Velvet is IT. The Crush On You Dress (top) has a cinched waist and a quilted detailing on the shoulders. It can go from day to night in a matter of seconds, from a cardigan to a leather jacket- it give you the power to rock it in YOUR way. I'm a sucker for a cut out and the Tribal Halter Tank Dress (bottom) is another incredibly quick day to night piece with a sexy back.

Meredith! She is great; she is talented. Meredith has the ability to take every model as a blank canvass and sass them up. Not only can she create "the look" through makeup, she is double talented and a superstar when it comes to hair styling.
Oh yeah and one of my favorite ass-kicking spiked booties by Jeffrey Campbell available at
Edge of Urge- the Avalos Boot. HOLY HAWT.

All pictures are captured by the talented Keith Ketchum- check out his blog! Styled by Michael Ussery and the Edge of Urge crew- and everything is available in the store or online if you're out of town!

HASTA LATER!

Edge of Urge: Local Street Style

m- Edge of Urge. Over the past four years, I’ve been fortunate enough to watch how this local gem has transformed from a cozy and hip boutique only known by locals, to something accrediting national recognition- all while keeping it’s small town character exclusive to eccentric
Wilmington, North Carolina.

I have always loved treating myself to stops at edge. The atmosphere is fantastic. Its so...now. There really are some fantastic pieces that you cant get a hold of anywhere closer than DC or Atlanta, so you know you’re going to always find something unique.

My purchases of the day: tanks.
Keeping the 90's theme rolling, I found this awesome tank that I really cant get enough of. This heavy cotton tank is stripped with an awesome 90's color theme of teal, gray, brown and blue and is cut just the way you never knew you wanted it. Our favorite part of the shirt is the patch of denim visible only when unbuttoned. I'm always down for surprises!

DIY: Cut up some old Levis that you haven’t worn in years, roll them up, and you’ve got a new pair of denim shorts. Pair them with a tank like this and some vintage high-top sneaks and you are good to go.

This cool necklace from Forever 21 keep in the 90's color palette. These faux ivory fangs look like they’ve been dipped in a 90's roller rink birthday room.
Bailey’s sunglasses are also a new purchase from Edge of Urge for just twelve bucks! Cat-eye sunglasses are key.

We love edge. Thank you edge for giving us hope for fashion in the south. With this store, there is no doubt that we are on our way.

Because we're obsessed.

c- We had so much fun making outfits for our photo shoot yesterday.  Michael and I grabbed three of our friends and ventured down to the boardwalk in Carolina Beach for some summer lovin!  It was fun creating different outfits from various color palettes of the boardwalk's facades and the natural colors of the coast. Not to mention we had some fabulous models...
