Simply Gorgeous.

c- Simply gorgeous. That's a good word to describe my sister Lindsay, and my friend who visited from California, Amy.  Michael has moved into a quaint home nestled in downtown Wilmington that was built in the 1800's. The area has so much character and after visiting Michaels new house we ventured off on a little walk to explore. I am wearing a leopard scarf that has armholes which allows me to wear it as a wrap! I just got this for FIVE bucks...I'm rather stoked about it.  I have it paired with a casual little black dress and accented with a skinny belt (below).
Lindsay and I found these shoes at a Goodwill in Raleigh. We were driving by and decided to stop in and immediately found these spiffy kicks. They came without shoelaces so Linds and I picked some up at our next stop which so happened to be Target!
Fur! I am in love with this vest. Faux fur to be exact...save the animals! Lindsay is sporting her new fur vest (from Encore! Consignment Boutique) with a classic black top and black skinny jeans.  A statement piece such as this vest are new territories for Lindsay, so the classic black is a great way to make sure she steps out of her comfort zone while remaining true to herself.
Gah I love this picture of Amy! She is such a natural beauty, but she let me play dress up with her for the pictures! I brought out the brown in her eyes with a brown smokey eye giving it a slight cat eye effect.  Her lips add a pop of color and are a mix of orange and red lipstick.
So we were taking pictures on the side of this building and then once we walked around the corner we noticed it was a workshop! Some sort of magical workshop. The man inside the door was working on a car, listening to music, and happened to be surrounded by a huge and eclectic array of the most interesting and random 'things'...I want to be his friend and explore. We need pictures from the inside.

Because we LOVE IT AND YOU!!!

seriously.
...and fashion.

New Year in Fashion: auld lang syne

m- Should auld acquaintance be forgot! Out with the old and in with the new.
New colors, new looks, new styles- all for a new year. Bailey and I brought in the last day of 2011 in celebration. Raleigh, once again, didn't let us down in the weather department and truly blessed us with a phenomenal afternoon. Stopping by the Player's Retreat, the oldest bar in Raleigh, and one of Raleigh's best local spots, Bailey and I grabbed a pint then hit it to a park to enjoy some winter rays. 2012 we are ready for you.
We got stopped by a passing train...HELLO photo shoot.
Fun shoes! My boots (above) were an after-Christmas deal found at Urban Outfitters. Originally priced at $88, I got these puppies for $20! Bailey found these kicks at Encore! for just $18!
The tall, rolling hills of the park served as an awesome chill spot, with a great view of the city. Not many places can you sit outside in temperatures of high 60s just days before Christmas....but in Raleigh-you can. Bailey and I had a great view of the city from up here.
This old house was sufficiently creepy in my book. Who knows what kinds of people have been in an out of this place. A two hundred year old cottage on the grounds of an old insane asylum, I'm sure this place has seen it's share of crazy. Nonetheless, it was a cool backdrop for pictures.

This outfit was a risk taker for me for some reason. It took a little convincing for me to walk out the door in this. Not that it is particularly special, it just isn't something that I would normally put together. That being said, Im all for trying something new. These mustard chinos are found in our first f&p shoot a couple of months ago but I especially love them with this knit cardi from Urban Outfitters.

This vintage bomber jacket is super cool for a couple of reasons. First, it was only seven dollars at Goodwill. Second it's vintage. THIRD, it is lined with maps.
(Which I forgot to take a picture of...but take my word for it)
We love Bailey's purple pants. Purple chords to be exact.
And her mesh sweater from Gap is cozy but allows breathing room for mild days like this!

For auld lang syne!

Because we're obsessed.

What to wear to a rave: Neon Clothes, Zeds Dead, and Great Friends

What to wear to a rave, zeads dead, rave concert, what to wear to a concert, neon clothes, street style, fashion blog, america
It's almost music festival season and no matter how young or how old, everyone loves music. Last month, on the eve of December, the members of 5609 feelin' fine (Courtney's apartment) were graced with the honor to have two guests of exceptional caliber. Well, they're pretty great. After months abroad in Florence, Tyler was back stateside and Amy was in town from California. With these two in the mix, and the beautiful Carissa, Bailey, and Lindsay on top...we were really amongst some of our bests.
What better way to celebrate a destined homecoming than a concert?
Glow sticks were strapped on, and we were ready to go TO ZEDS DEAD DUH.
The question for f&p today was what to wear to a rave that's
fun and fashionable, but first and foremost functional?

What to wear to a rave, you ask? Our blonde bombshell of the group (above) is flawlessly fresh and precious at every moment she is part of. Fashion Merchandising student, Carissa turned this Forever 21 top around to showcase her florescent pink bandeau underneath. The patterns and textures were aplenty. Graphic lines, atop of graphic tights with ***functional boots for prime rave time.

Let's look at more for what to wear to a rave...
A dynamic trio We've got lines coming from all kinds of places. The wind breaker shown here is clearly a throwback and was found at Bargain Box for only ten dollars!
And again...look at those functional peds, we could jump for days.

Holding her own in the department of fresh and precious is this spark of energy. Haley truly has a style of her own and we love every second of it. This aztec skirt has unique lines of it's own and totally still keeping in the vibe of the night. Such a stylish girl to be around. She currently resides in Whales...and we are exceedingly jealous.

Homemade clothes are the best. A cut-up neon t-shirt is a super inexpensive and even more super functional. Lindsay is too cool for school and it definitely is shown in her hip clothes.

More lines. More colors. More Aztec prints? Bring on the glowsticks!

Amy just so happened to get in to town from California the night before the concert! She called me the morning of, and ended up getting a ticket and riding down with Carissa and Tyler for the night. It.was.epic. Amy always seems to come into town sporadically and just at the right timing. She is wearing one of my favorite rave shirts; a neon green tank top with a glitter-fied button (you can't see under Amy's gorgeous locks :))

This is Tyler. Or should I say TMare.  You should follow him on soundcloud (or twitter). He is our very talented friend who makes music and happened to get back from studying abroad in Florence just in time for the Zeds Dead concert! It's been so much fun since he has been back from Europe, and his music has been even getting unimaginably more epic.

This is Katie. She is wonderful. And although you haven't met her yet, that's unacceptable and therefore you will shortly be seeing a lot more of her. She is wearing an awesome acid washed denim corset that was incredibly appropriate in the gleam of the blacklight during the rave.

Street Style: Downtown Warmth

Downtown warmth
Featuring Jessica and Nichole.

It's awfully lovely here in North Carolina,
considering that we can comfortably wear outfits like these in December.
It's always fun when Michael and I switch up photo shoot locations to create a more urban atmosphere.
Downtown Raleigh was the perfect place to unite with old friends and put together some fun outfits.
On the left are Nichole's awesome two-toned Clark boots. I love the look of a darker toe and heel! I am on the right wearing my favorite tights, new plum patent wedges I found at Forever 21, and accented with my new blue ring from H&M (on sale for $3!!).
Nichole is wearing a comfortable knit she found at a thrift store in Raleigh.  She has it paired with dark Seven For All Mankind jeans which makes a great contrast with her cream top.
Jessica's textured dress was purchased at Vestique in Raleigh! She has it paired with Steve Madden boots as well as a scarf.  With such nice weather we have had lately, pairing a dress with boots and a scarf is a great way to create a winter-like vibe.  As always, red lips are such a classic way to incorporate a pop of color... and Jessica is sporting them flawlessly!

Because we're obsessed.
