DIY: Glitter Cap Toe Shoe Fashion Fabulousness

c- A new year creates the perfect excuse to clean out the old, and make room for the new. This past weekend, while sorting through my closets, I found these basic black oxfords (above).  I found them last year whilst thrifting. I used to change the laces on these bad boys often, but still, I was bored with them. They definitely needed a makeover.
Supplies:
1. A  pair of shoes
2. Masking tape
3. Paint brushes for mixing
4. GLITTER! (I chose gold and black)
5. Fabric glue
This is where you can get creative. Tape off the part you want glitter-fied from the part of the shoe you don't. I chose to stick with the toe glitterfication but you can glitterfy wherever you desire!
Mix the glitter and glue in a cup...but you have to act fast- the glue dries quickly!

Not going to lie, it was much easier to just use my fingers versus the brush when applying the glitter to the shoe. I was able to even out the glitter and put it exactly where I wanted.

Now it's time to wash your hands and let the shoes dry.

A couple hours of dry time should do the trick. Peel the tape off and CHA-CHING your shoes have gone from drab to fab!

I love wearing these now that I did it myself. It's so simple, yet makes an outfit a wee more sassy.

New Year's Eve- spikes, shapes, and fabulous friends

c-The look of the night was somewhere between "spiked-badassness" and "patterned-craziness" for Fresh and Precious this time around. Ringing in the new year is often paired with sequin dresses and flashy bowties, but this year in Wilmington, a more "low-key" night called for a more relaxed NYE look.  Michael and I, yet again, managed to dress ourselves with similar tastes-
patterns, spikes, and burgundy.
Spikes feel like a symbol of power- especially on your feet. Our friend Alex DIY'ed these puppies on the right. Jeffrey Campbell (of course) made these bad puppies on the left. Do it yourself's are the best.

Lindsay stopped by the Doll House before separating ways to celebrate the New Year!
Lindsay always looks so put lately. Her plum dress looked adorable with black tights, shoes we found at goodwill, and a colored yellow belt to accent.
I am wearing my favorite dress from Edge of Urge! It has a sweetheart shaped fabric top and then sheer black to create a more dainty look.
I paired it with my mother's vintage black and gold belt and my BCBG jacket.
Patterns draw me in. Michael's shirt is a gem he found at The Wonder Shop downtown Wilmington.  This is one of the best places to find unique one-of-a-kind pieces and this shirt is clearly no different. As the night went on, and the drinks were poured, I found myself becoming even more fascinated with this print. These colors and patterns are really something else.
I adore black and white paired together, especially geometrically-like Elise's top. It is such a classic look, easily complemented by her adorable red boots and balanced by red lips. Such a classy lady.

And then we danced the night away to Big Something at The Whiskey...
2012 was one of the best yet. Can't wait to see what is in store for 2013.

 Happy New Year, friends!

Because we're obsessed.
