Holiday Favorites at Edge of Urge

c- In case you aren't aware, I'm a complete shoe whore. I just can't get enough. Edge of Urge is constantly killing it when it comes to staying ahead of the shoe game, especially when it comes to the beloved Jeffrey Campbell's.  Christmas is over but New Years Eve is creeping up incredibly fast (as always). Now it is time for me to share with you some of my favorites this holiday season available at Edge of Urge

Top left: the Jeffrey Campbell bullet pumps. Just the metal tip is all you need for the sleek sexiness this shoe has to offer.

Top right: ombre', red, patent leather....did I just die and go to heaven? Seriously. Three of my favorite things mixed into a shoe. Well done, JC, well done. I had the honor of frolicking around in these babies at one of the Edge of Urge shoots and let me tell you--it is so FREAKIN cool how the bottom of the heel just disappears. In real life, these shoes make you look like your floating which is typically how you feel running around in litas.

Bottom Left: YOU'RE GETTING ME WITH THE TIPS, JEFFREY. These are appropriately named the "don't even pumps". This most likely has something to do with the world dominance factor these shoes scream.

Bottom Right: I am well aware we all aren't heel ladies, so check out these beautiful Zorro boots that are so versatile it's insane. Pair them with a dress, skinny jeans, a casual outfit, a night out, whatever your fancy and these are a wonderful staple boot, without lacking personality.

Slits are the sassiest way to spice up an outfit. Styled by the EOU crew, this outfit is laid back with a tshirt, a little badass with the leather/jean jacket, and slightly sexy with the red sheer ambition skirt.
The Ice Princess Mini Dress! Funny story, I was going to Edge of Urge to finally buy the McGovern dress when this beauty was on the mannequin as I walked in the door. It started screaming my name so I tried it on in one of my favorite colors to wear, wine. SOLD. Phew I'm thinking this will be my NYE dress paired with my spiked Jeffrey Campbell foxies.

The spiked shoulder detail make this everyday blazer complementary to so much
 (especially the DON'T EVEN pumps)!

Are you in love yet? Yes? No? Maybe?
Well incase you aren't, don't let me forget to mention most of this is ON SALE! FO REALS!

Happy Holidays!
2012 was a rather badass year, but now it is time to make 2013 an even better one.

CHEERS!

Street Style- F&P Take Columbus

So here we were...
together...
in COLUMBUS, OHIO!
The McGovern clan has deep roots in Central Ohio and, to nor Courtney's surprise nor mine, my first job out of college brought me to....Central, Ohio. Courtney and I tend to play on the same field. With myself deep in the President's re-election campaign in Ohio and Courtney finishing up school, neither of us were able to reunite until our President was re-elected and Courtney was prepared for exams. Once our jobs were done...we played.
This outfit is a perfect representation of Courtney's style. Beautiful woman as a whole and bad-ass in detail. Courtney knows how to show off what her mama gave her perfectly and then throws on some ass-kicking combat boots, plaid shirt, and a pair of lethal sunglasses. That's my girl.
Courtney found this black-velvet head wrap from American Apparel for 15 bucks.
My American Apparel results came in the form of knit. I have been obsessed with this sweater since the first moment I laid eyes on it at the American Apparel in Short North in Columbus. Being on the campaign, one literally has no more than a few hours a week "off" and this time is usually spent on things like eating or other nonsense. This being said, I dreamt of the day after the election when I could finally have this colorful sweater on my skin. The wait was quite romantic.
These colors just get me going. Red, blue, yellow, white, teal...alright. Perfectly vintage in influence and well worth the 78 bucks from American Apparel.
SO fortunate that the Universe allowed Courtney and I to cross paths in Columbus, Ohio of all places. I'm learning that I can't get rid of this wife of mine. I'm staying in it for the kids. And the clothes.

And the good times.

Because we're obsessed.

Men's Winter Fashion- Layers, textures, and prints.

m- This winter I've been playing around with color. Bold color statements are definitely worthy to showcase their own during the dull days of winter, but it certainly takes the right color combination to do so. Sometimes this is not always an easy task. What I have done this winter, is taken a few rich colors that I wouldn't normally wear, and mixed them in with warm neutrals and cold-weather textures. I came up with a winter color pallet of teal, forest green, maroon, orange, and purple which bid perfectly appropriate for the winter.
Alright so my top half is completely thrifted. Surprise. This wonderfully kick-ass vintage leather jacket was $35 at the Bargain Box in Wilmington, NC and has been the sole influence in my quickly evolving wardrobe into the world of browns. These corduroy pants have this AWESOME European cut to them and I wear them constantly. Found these trousers at the TOPSHOP on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Nothing better than a Topman
orange belt: $25 at American Apparel
Varied texture is my jam. Leather on chords on knit on denim...I want the lot. You cant match it up too much. No such thing.
This hugely huge cream knit infinity scarf was only 20 bucks at an H&M in Chicago. This scarf goes well with anything and can be worn in all kinds of great ways. A definite staple in the days of winter.
This teal sweatshirt is certainly in his come-back days from the early 90s and I am certainly ok with it. Found him for 3 dollars at a thrift store.
One day my cousin Allen walked into the PR in this horribly dreadful button-up covered in ducks...I hated it. (Made fun of him of course) Six months later, I have one in multiple shades of purple. What a trend setter Allen.
Winter gives us full reign to do anything with everything in the world of clothing and fashion. Throw on a color, throw on a scarf, a jacket, some boots, another jacket, a sweater and a hat! It's all about the layers folks.

Because we're obsessed.

Rural Ohio Presents Denim and Polka Dots

m- These pictures were from a few months ago when I was gallivanting across the field of rural Ohio BUT I can't resist a good polka dot. The polka dots must be seen. This fall outfit can definitely be transformed into a winter wonder with just a few layers of jackets and scarves!
I was all kinds of surprised when I found this denim shirt donned with polka dots at the H&M in Raleigh, NC. I havent really been impressed with the lines that H&M has chosen for the residents of the triangle but this shirt was certainly an exception. I wear this more than I am comfortable to share.
Carrot pants found in the MOST AMAZING STORE ON THE PLANET.
aka- the 5 story Topshop in Central London.
Boots found on my friend Alex's feet...which he found at Urban Outfitters.
Topshop, Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel are my life. I would not survive without them.
And vintage of course.

Miss you already Ohio. Because we're obsessed.

Nomadic Point of Madness

I was in the winter of my life…and the men I met along the road were my homely summer. At night I fell asleep with visions of myself dancing and laughing and crying with them. Three years down the line of being on an endless road toward and my memories of them were the only things that sustained me…and my only real happy times.
I was a singer…not a very popular one; I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet. But a plan and a series of unfortunate events saw those dreams dash and divide like a million stars in the night sky, that I wished on over and over again, sparkling and broken.
But I didn’t really mind it because I knew that, that it takes getting everything you ever wanted and then losing it, to know what true freedom is.

And when the people I used to know found out what I’d been doing, how I’d been living…they asked me why, but there’s no use in talking to people who have a home.  They have no idea what it’s like to seek safety in other people…for a home to be wherever you lie your head.

I was always an unusual girl. My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality.

Just a hint of indecisiveness that was just as wide and wavering as the ocean.
And if I said I didn’t plan for it to turn out this way, I’d be lying...
Because I was born to be the other woman.
I belonged to no one,
Who belonged to everyone.
Who had nothing,
Who wanted everything.
With a fire for every experience, and an obsession for freedom, that terrified me to the point that I couldn’t even talk about it. And pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me.
Every night I used to pray that I’d find my people. And finally I did, on the open road.
We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore.
Except to make our lives into a work of art.
Live fast…die young…be wild and have fun. I believe in the country America used to be. I’ll believe in the person I want to become. I believe in the freedom of the open road.
And my motto is the same as ever. I believe in the kindness in strangers.
And when I’m at war with myself, I ride. I just ride.

Who are you? Are in touch with all of your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself, where you can experience them?
I have. I am fucking crazy.

 But I am free.

Because we're obsessed.
