School Daze. Pre-Fall Fashion with American Apparel

m- These puppies were taken a couple of weeks ago and totally got lost in the abyss. But not to fear, Alex and Rhiannon...they are here. It is a rare, but happy day when my sister and I get to see each other between our ridiculously busy schedules, so this week was definitely a special treat. Rhiannon and I made a little road trip from Raleigh to Fayetteville to Wilmington and had a glorious time in town. Since our reunions are rare, we have to squeeze some picture time in. So, we called the super fashionable Alex on over to Courtney's summer estate, most commonly known as "Rogersville," and snapped some pictures in our back-to-school-esque outfits.
Fall is just seconds away from exploding out of our closets. It is always a treat to break out the boots and sweaters, scarves and knits and I know everyone is ready for this time of year. In our beach town, the cold air takes just a little bit longer to sweep in, so we satisfy our fall desires via color pallets. Alex and I are wearing vintage deep primaries in corduroy and knit, paired with short boots-both donned with denim. Boots are from Topman and Urban Outfitters. This is a nice transition before jeans and pants dominate the scene.
Rhiannon is perfect. I love her choice of prints today. Both of these guys have their bookbags ready to GO. Stylish School-kids. A GREAT break from the college slum of sweatpants and hoodies.
This dress was a score from a shopping trip with our grandmother, also known as Boobah. Boobah was a fashionista of her time as you can see from an old F&P post, "Vintage Glam." Boobah picked a good one. LOVE this dress.
 School Kidz.
Last pop of bright color, before the fall pallet comes to town. Rhiannon got this dress from the same shopping trip, courtesy of Boobah. Gold Jeffrey Campbells finish the look and Alex is wearing a lovely pink tank from American Apparel

A great day with some great people. School days may be long, but fall is just around the corner.

holy guacamole- fashion in Mexico

c- It's safe to say the last week of my summer was more of a fantasy than reality. And I am beyond ok with that. I was lucky enough to trek across borders all the way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with the Marenyi's and our friend Derick. A breathtaking view situated behind an infiniti pool offered one of the most picturesque backdrops...ever.
This is where I found my princess Samantha sporting red lips and killer cat-eye sunglasses.
We took a break from the daily grind of relaxation to play dress up. It was fun mixing and matching our  pieces- here she is wearing a Susana Monaco tube top for outfit numero uno. This Vintage Sari silk blend two layer magic wrap skirt is something else. I don't know about you, but I love mixing and matching the way I wear certain pieces and this wrap takes that to a whole new level. Not only can it be a skirt OR a dress, you can also tie it up various ways to make it feel like a new piece every time.
Some different ways to wear a wrap:

I love photographing Sam..this lady is always ready for her close up.

I wish we never had to leave.

Princesses of Fashion- Spring Dresses & Spring Colors

m- OK SO. I am hundreds of miles away in rural Ohio right now, saving the world and all that jazz...BUT I cant stop thinking about fashion. I have been thoroughly surprised at the dress in my new mid-west home. ANYWAY with the 14 hour campaign days, courtesy of Barack, it's not surprising that blogging has taken the second seat, after getting our President re-elected...but there is always time for what I love to do. This alllllll being said, Dina and Alexa have been SCREAMING at me via my hard-drive and their beautiful pictures obviously have to go public. Alexa and Dina are my Persian Princesses that I love more than anything. TRULY a complete duo full of talent, drive, and intelligence that outshines their beauty (which is hard to do, as you can see).
Alexa is soon leaving us for grad school in London and Dina and I are not dealing with this departure well. I had to get some pictures of these two before they took over the world. I mean...how beautiful right? These two are a perfect mix of ethnicities. They are doing Iranians, Venezuelans, and Lebanese justice...SO BEAUTIFUL. Whew.
Boots are coming at you quick as fall gets closer and closer. Courtney and I wear boots all year but their prime season is creeping fast! I love how Dina and Alexa added some boots to these colorful dresses.
Rain did not stop us from galavanting in the wet fields.
I LOVE these dresses on Dina and Alexa. Alexa's periwinkle is precious and Dina's turquoise is Spanish in influence and a perfect compliment to Dina's Venezuelan background.
I'm so lucky to have these women in my life. They are always such a breath of fresh air and I cant wait for many more years of great friendship. More pictures coming your way soon!

summer fashion trend: asian prints

m- Time to rave about Courtney!! Courtney really knows how to do it. All around. I've watched Courtney grow into this chameleon of fashion and I couldn't be more proud to work with this gal. What a gal, this one. Here are some pictures that we snagged South of Broad in Charleston, South Carolina, on one of our much loved Lori visits.
Clothes with Asian influence will soon be all the rage, or at least should be. Since Hawiaan and tropical prints have been HUGE, we decided to take it even further past the islands and to the great islands of the Orient. Courtney and I are trying it out. This PHENOMENAL Oriental piece is full of extreme detail and color. Members of the party on this dress include the prince, his princess, and a UNICORN. This is like...hipster done right. Vintage silk teal and orange tunic? Yes please.
Excuse the kitschy, Gilligan's Island prop; Lori and I were both thinking Gilligan this week. This shirt is glorious. Another vintage piece from Lori's collection, this shirt is so freaking cool. You cant see it, but the buttons are bronze and adorned in Japanese symbols. Asian is in!
Thanks always, Half United for the bullet necklaces!
This bullet is perfect for the Gilligan, military, vibe we were channeling that day.
This was one of those moments (at three in the morning) where Courtney and I find a piece in Lori's collection that make us want to pass out. Pass out, I tell you. This KIMONO. Fact: this kimono is seven feet long. Fact: this kimono is made of silk, hand stitched, and COVERED IN A PEACOCK. A white peacock. Look at the sleeves. And the detail. I mean...Asian is in.
Let's take it to the Orient.
